Names of the winners of the Minister of Education and Science scholarships for outstanding young scientists were announced at the end of June. Among the scholarship recipients there are two researchers from the Faculty of Philology of the University of Lodz. They were awarded in Humanities, in the field of literary studies as well as culture and religious studies.

Scholarships of the Minister of Education and Science were awarded to Dr Piotr Kręzel (Department of Slavic Philology, University of Lodz) and Dr Anna Wiśniewska-Grabarczyk (Department of 20th-and 21st-Century Polish Literature, University of Lodz). From the entire University of Lodz, 4 academics were honoured in this year's edition of the award.

In the 18th edition of the Minister's Scholarship, as many as 1,828 applications for funding for scientists who showed significant achievements in their academic activities were submitted. In the course of the procedure, a total of 230 applications of persons meeting the conditions for receiving the scholarship were selected.

The Minister's scholarships were awarded to young scientists representing 51 scientific and artistic disciplines. Funding in the amount of PLN 5,390 was granted for a period of 3 years.

Piotr Kręzel

Dr Piotr Kręzel is a graduate of Slavic studies at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Lodz and History at the Faculty of Philosophy and History of the University of Lodz. He is a PhD of Humanities (doctoral dissertation: Etnos serbski. Czasy patriarchy Arsenija IV Jovanovicia Šakabenty (1698-1748). Since 2019 he has been employed as an Assistant Professor as part of the implementation of a research project: Kulturowe implikacje migracji Serbów we wczesnej dobie nowożytnej

 

Anna Wiśniewska-Grabarczyk
Dr Anna Wiśniewska-Grabarczyk is a PhD of Humanities. She is a researcher of the censorship of the Polish People's Republic, a literary critic, an author of three books and dozens of scientific, popular science, literary criticism and journalistic articles. She has been nominated for the Witold Gombrowicz Literary Award for the novel Porzeczkowy Josef. Dr Wiśniewska-Grabarczyk is a member of the Committee for Genetic Research and Documentation on Literature at the Lodz Department of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Editorial Board of the journal Acta Universitatis Lodziensis.
