On that day, from 2 p.m., the Biedermann’s Palace will become a meeting space for young creators, photography enthusiasts and people interested in culture, travel and European mobility. We encourage you to join a shared dialogue on the identity and experiences of young people across the Old Continent. During the opening, visitors will have the opportunity to admire the best photographs.
Discover Europe is a Europe‑wide photography competition organised for over two decades by ESN Poland, encouraging young people to present their own perspectives on Europe – its diversity, everyday life, people, architecture, nature and culinary culture. The project is created by students for students, and its aim is to foster intercultural dialogue through images and stories captured within a single frame.
The competition is addressed to students from all higher education institutions in Europe, regardless of their field of study or level of photographic experience. Equipment was not an evaluation criterion – both photographs taken with cameras and mobile phones were accepted. The key factors in the assessment were originality, concept and the ability to tell a story within a single frame.
In this year’s edition, students from across the European Union and the United Kingdom competed in four categories:
- Discover Nature: landscapes and natural environments of European countries.
- Discover People: diversity, energy and history of Europe’s citizens.
- Discover Architecture: iconic landmarks and hidden architectural gems.
- Discover Flavours: culinary traditions, local dishes and beverages.
More information about the competition is available at: discovereurope.esn.pl
The competition was created by ESN Poland – an association that also has its section at the University of Lodz.
