Humanities Horizons – Lectures Prepared by the Ceraneum Centre, University of Lodz

In October and November this year, Ceraneum Centre, University of Lodz is closing the project – Horizons of the Humanities: World Achievements in the Study of Antiquity to the Middle Ages. On that occasion a series of meetings with foreign experts in spiritual culture of the Byzantines and the Slavs and in the history of the Graeco-Roman and Byzantine medicine will take place at the University of Lodz. The events will be available online via the MS Teams application.

Polemical Literature in Byzantium and the Slavic World – a poster

14 October 2022, 9:00 a.m., University of Lodz Library (room 302) – seminar on the Byzantine and Slavic spiritual culture. The participants include:

  • Prof. Marie-Hélène Blanchet (French National Centre for Scientific Research, CNRS, Paris),
  • Prof. Alessandra Bucossi (Ca' Foscari University of Venice),
  • Dr Bojana Radovanović (University of Vienna).

The discussion will mainly focus on medieval Catholic-Orthodox and Arab-Christian polemical literature. The programme of the meeting is available on the website of the Ceraneum Centre, University of Lodz

10 November 2022, 5:00 p.m., Institute of History, University of Lodz (room 202) – open lecture by Dr Laurence Totelin: 

Perfumers and their perfumes in the ancient drug trade.
