Inauguracja roku akademickiego 2021/2022 – dołącz online!

The academic year 2021/2022 is getting closer and closer. However, before we meet in lecture halls, laboratories or the library, we invite the whole community of the University of Lodz to the inauguration. You will be able to follow the ceremony online by watching the broadcast*, which will begin on October 1 at 1:00 p.m.

Streaming of the event will be available on our YouTube channel and UL Facebook. The broadcast, with an English translator, will be available on the International Students Office - University of Lodz profile.

During the ceremony a symbolic matriculation of students, representing all those who are starting the studies at our University will take place. According to the tradition, the oath will be conducted by the Rector of the University of Lodz, prof. Elżbieta Żądzińska.  

We have also prepared a guest lecture for the participants entitled "We boldly reach for the important. The way to success in science", which will be delivered by professor Andrzej Jajszczyk. The lecture will include topics related to obtaining prestigious ERC grants, which provide funds for groundbreaking scientific research. Prof. Jajszczyk – a physicist, scientist, researcher – will talk about why nowadays science should come first. 

We also encourage you to take part in the inaugurations of individual Faculties:

  • Faculty of Educational Sciences – 29 September at 12 p.m. (online broadcast).
  • Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science – 29 September at 10 a.m. (mathematics) and at 1 p.m. (data analysis) and on 30 September at 10 a.m. (computer science the 1st round) and at 1 p.m. (computer science the 2nd round). The ceremony will be held in the stationary (on-site) mode in compliance with the sanitary regime. 
  • Faculty of Philology – 30 September at 10 a.m. for Polish Studies, Journalism and Cultural Studies and at 12 p.m. for all the neo-philological fields of study (in the stationary mode in compliance with the sanitary regime). The event will be recorded and posted on the website of the Faculty.
  • Faculty of Philosophy and History – 30 September at 12 p.m. (in the stationary mode in compliance with the sanitary regime) in the assembly hall of the Faculty of Law and Administration.
  • Faculty of Geographical Sciences – 30 September at 11 a.m. in the Stanisław Liszewski assembly hall (in the stationary mode in compliance with the sanitary regime)

  • Faculty of Physics and Applied Informatics – 1 October at 10 a.m. (in the stationary in compliance with the sanitary regime)

  • Faculty of Law and Administration – 2 October at 10 a.m. (in the stationary mode in compliance with the sanitary regime)

  • Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection – 4 October at 12 p.m. (in the stationary mode in compliance with the sanitary regime)
  • University of Lodz Branch in Tomaszów Mazowiecki – 4 October at 10:00 in a building at ul. Konstytucji 3 Maja 65/67 (in the stationary mode in compliance with the sanitary regime).  

All the students who decide to take part in the stationary (on-site) Faculty inaugurations are asked to follow the rules of sanitation safety and to cover their mouths and noses with protective masks.

Prof. Andrzej Jajszczyk has graduated from the Poznan University of Technology. He spent several years working as a researcher in Australia, Canada and France. He is a professor at AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow and the author or co-author of twelve books, more than 300 scientific articles on telecommunication networks, and about 100 articles on science and higher education. He led Polish teams in seven European Union research projects, was also the editor-in-chief of the American IEEE Communications Magazine and deputy editor-in-chief of CIC/IEEE China Communications. He co-founded the National Science Centre as its first director. Andrzej Jajszczyk is the Vice President of the European Research Council (ERC) and a member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences and the European Academy of Sciences – Academia Europaea.
