Międzynarodowe warsztaty pracy socjalnej na EkSocu

"International Social Work Workshops" were held at the Faculty of Economics and Sociology on 18-22 March 2024. The faculty was visited by people studying and teaching social work from Germany and Great Britain. The meetings are carried out as part of cooperation in the field of social work education between the University of Lodz, Ostfalia Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften and John Moores University in Liverpool.

Students and lecturers discovered together the history of industrial Lodz, and while walking around Księży Młyn, they discussed social inequalities, social rights and changes in the welfare state. Visit to the Marek Edelman Dialogue Center and the Survivors' Park inspired the group to jointly create a seminar on prejudice, stereotypes and (in)tolerance.

The foreign guests also had a great opportunity to take part in the events of the Social Work Week, organised by the Social Force Student Science Club: they participated in an expert panel on social work and its supervision in Germany, Poland and Great Britain; together with Polish students, they watched "Sorry we missed you" by Ken Loach and discussed inequality in the labour market and workers' rights; they also borrowed "Living Books" from the Human Library.

Previous International Social Work Workshops with the participation of students from Poland, Germany and the UK were held in Lodz in March 2023 and in Wolfenbüttel in September 2022.

The coordinator of international cooperation in the field of social work education between the University of Lodz, Ostfalia Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften and John Moores University in Liverpool is Dr Paulina Bunio-Mroczek from the Department of Applied Sociology and Social Work.
