The recital programme will feature compositions by Aleksander Tansman, Giulio Regondi and Antonio José. It offers an opportunity to discover the many facets of guitar music, including its subtlety, expressiveness and virtuosity.
The evening will open with “Pièce en forme de Passacaille” by Aleksander Tansman. Written in 1953, the work refers to the passacaglia, a musical form in which a recurring theme serves as the basis for successive variations. Listeners will be able to follow the transformations of the same motif through a variety of timbres and approaches to voice leading on the guitar.
The programme will continue with “Introduction et Caprice”, Op. 23 by Giulio Regondi. This Romantic composition combines a slow, expressive introduction with a lively and virtuosic caprice. Its singing melodies and dazzling passagework reveal both the delicacy of the instrument and its technical capabilities.
The recital will conclude with “Sonata para guitarra” by Antonio José. Written in 1933, this four-movement sonata combines a distinctly Spanish character with rich harmonies and lyrical melodies. The successive movements lead listeners through changing moods, from energy and dance-like lightness to contemplation and a dynamic finale.
All of this will be performed by Hubert Marczak, a final-year student at the Henryk Wieniawski Primary and Secondary Music School in Łódź. The guitarist develops his skills under the supervision of dr hab. Maciej Staszewski, Associate Professor of the Grazyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Lodz.
His most significant achievements include the Grand Prix and First Prize at the 11th International Guitar Competition in Zruč nad Sázavou, Czechia, as well as a special award for an outstanding interpretation of “Introduction et Caprice” by Giulio Regondi, which will also be featured in the October recital programme. The artist has furthermore won the Grand Prix of the 15th Łukasz Pietrzak National Competition “Wielki Gitaromaniak”, First Prize and the Journalists’ Award at the Baltic Guitar Days International Festival and Competition, and the Grand Prix of the REZONANS National Instrumental Competition.
He performs both as a soloist and as a member of ensembles, presenting repertoire from various musical periods. He has appeared at the Royal Łazienki Museum in Warsaw, the Theatre of the Warsaw Chamber Opera, the Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre for Music in Lusławice and the Łódź Philharmonic. Audiences at Alfred Biedermann’s Palace have already had the opportunity to hear him during previous concerts hels as part of the “Klasycznie u Biedermannów” series.
The young guitarist continues to refine his artistry through masterclasses in Poland and abroad. He is a recipient of scholarships awarded by, among others, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, the Marshal of the Łódź Voivodeship, and the National Fund for Children. He is also actively involved in charity concerts held in inclusive nurseries, hospitals and care homes, sharing his passion for music with audiences.
Participation in the concerts is free of charge; however, advance booking is required: the booking form.
