The aim of the artists and the entire team involved in the “Crisis of Science” residency, conducted as part of the “Performative Research in Response to Civilizational Challenges” project, is to critically examine the boundary between the perceived loss of creative agency to artificial intelligence and the genuine expansion of human cognitive and creative capacities.
The challenge focuses on the phenomenon of “loss of voice” – a situation in which users of AI tools no longer feel like the authors of the process, becoming merely curators of content generated by an algorithm. Artists and researchers will jointly explore how conceptual and scientific processes are changing under the influence of AI, as well as the emotions associated with delegating “creative” tasks to machines.
The residency builds on experiences gained through prototyping a new platform offering courses designed to develop competencies in working with artificial intelligence.
The key task of the residency team is to prepare, based on performative research and emotional exploration, a report containing specific functional recommendations for the Generator Pomysłów platform.
The residency’s expert for this module is dr hab. Małgorzata Karpińska-Krakowiak, who conducts experimental research into consumer behaviour and advertising at the University of Łódź (Poland) and the European University Viadrina (Germany).

The project is implemented by the University of Lodz Foundation.
