Lodz for Success – Cooperation for the Benefit of the Academic City

Together with the Marshal's Office in Lodz, we have been creating a student-friendly city where students not only want to study but also stay, choosing the space to pursue their future plans. Thanks to a targeted grant from the Lodz Voivodeship budget, we were able to engage in a series of events addressed not only to students but also to prospective students from Lodz and the region. Thanks to them, you could see Lodz as a young, open and creative city. A city of new technologies and bold initiatives that boldly look to the future. A city where you want to develop.

Together with the Marshal's Office, we have shown that Lodz is a city, which is:

open and engaged,

We have been strengthening our cooperation with schools in the region, developing initiatives for students and teachers. As part of the "Open University" programme, we hosted schools for workshops at the University of Lodz, allowing students to better understand us as staff and students committed to building an academic community and to explore our city. A community eager to share its knowledge and resources. We also expanded the University of Lodz Bookcrossing campaign with additional bookshelves, which enriched the book collections in secondary schools in our region.

We have opened up the prospect of Lodz as an academic city to students interested in studying at the University of Lodz thanks to our participation in the Perspektywy education fair. During the fair, we met with students directly and often talked face to face about our city as a good place to study.

We haven't forgotten about educators, for whom we organised workshops in cooperation with the Teachers' Club. The aim of the training was to support teachers in working with students and coping with the challenges of modern schools.

a city of large events,

Lodz is a city known for its festivals. The University of Lodz also actively participates in them. During the Lem Festival, we co-created the "Megabit Bomb. Youth Stage." Students from the Lodz Voivodeship listened to inspiring presentations by our staff and students, and participated in workshops and presentations, where we explored how to maintain our identity in an era of rapid technological development.

Since we believe knowledge must also be practical, we created an Education Zone at the University of Lodz Academic Job Fair, the largest event in the region connecting employers with future employees. The zone also served as a meeting place for our students and staff, who learned about everyday life at the University of Lodz.

High school students have an opportunity to try studying at the University of Lodz thanks to the "Talented at School, Brilliant at the University" programme. During a gala held in November, high school students interacted with the university students, learning about the University of Lodz's student science clubs and more.

and friendly for young people.

We engage students in important events for Lodz, such as the Camera Action Festival. During the event they performed brilliantly as event ambassadors. In turn, during the Lodz Innovation Heroes – a hackathon, students from schools in the Lodz Voivodeship and members of our student science clubs presented their activities and worked creatively on the smart city idea.

Through podcasts on Radio Łódź, we inspire people to acquire and utilise knowledge, believing that in a world of half-truths and fake news, truth is the highest value. We have also published informational and promotional materials in "Gazeta Wyborcza" about post-graduate development opportunities and the achievements of our young scientists. We discuss topics such as the passions of our graduates, the importance of academic relationships and popular science competitions.

We want students to proudly identify with the University of Lodz and our city. That's why we've dedicated our "Stay in Lodz. Study at the University of Lodz" image campaign to them. Advertisements and spots in public spaces encourage students to stay in Lodz – a city of young people, courageous, curious and engaged.
