The aim of the programme, financed by the European Fund for Social Development 2021-2027, is to create regional networks supporting the integration and career development of international researchers, doctoral students and their families in individual voivodeships.
The project addresses the significant needs of the international academic community, and its comprehensive approach – from standardising administrative processes and family integration to supporting academic career development. Therefore, it deserves the highest recognition. I am convinced that it will contribute to increasing the attractiveness of the University of Lodz and the entire region as an open, friendly and inspiring place for scientists from around the world. I wholeheartedly congratulate the entire team and wish them success in the next stages of the project
– says the University of Lodz Vice-Rector for Internationalisation of Science and Education dr hab. Katarzyna de Lazari-Radek, Associate Professor at the University of Lodz.
The implementation of the "Lodzkie for International Researchers" project is a significant step towards professionalising support for international researchers in the Lodz region. For all three universities, participation in the project means strengthening their institutional potential in the areas of internationalisation and academic integration.
Activities carried out until September 2028 will focus on:
- standardising services for international employees at three universities,
- implementing the Mobile Researcher Assistant service, supporting researchers in issues related to legalising their stay and employment,
- developing the "Foreign Researcher's Stay Essentials" – a practical guide to the most important aspects of living and working in Lodz,
- organising regular matchmaking events for scientists, newsletters and integration activities aimed at international scientists and their families,
- building a network strategy for the coming years and promoting the region as a place conducive to international scientific careers.
As the network coordinator, the University of Lodz is strengthening its position as a regional centre of competence supporting research mobility. Together with its partners, it will strive to make the Lodz Voivodeship a recognisable and attractive destination for scientists from around the world.
