Prof. Piotr Szukalski as a Member of the National Development Council

Dr hab. Piotr Szukalski, Associate Professor at the University of Lodz, was appointed a member of the Family and Demography Council, which is a part of the National Development Council by the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki on 2 December 2025.

The National Development Council is an advisory body to the President of Poland and his Office, performing expert functions and supporting the activities of the Head of State. The task of the Family and Demography Council is to support the activities of the President of Poland in matters related to population policy and activities for Polish families.

Prof. Piotr Szukalski is a specialist in demography and social gerontology, associated with the University of Lodz Faculty of Economics and Sociology for nearly 30 years. He is currently a member of the Departament of Rural and Urban Studies and Sociology of Social Change. Prof. Szukalski is a member of three committees of the Polish Academy of Sciences, i.e., the Committee on Demographic Sciences, the Committee on Labour and Social Policy Sciences and the Forecast Committee. He previously served on President Andrzej Duda's National Development Council for two terms.
