“Student Circles” is the result of the work of a number of people: from specialists who led the workshops, to students and workers who willingly shared their ideas, and finally to the artist – Olgierd Szopiński, who put it all together!
And the effects? See for yourself!

Combining perspectives – discover the mural's message!
Let's start from the beginning! The main theme of this project is academic circles and concepts within them such as study experience, such as support, community, connection and a multitude of paths, from which everyone chooses their own path. Which one will you choose?
Moving on, the central part of the wall is occupied by synthetic portraits of students involved in the project's creation. The portraits, which are actually student self-portraits, draw attention to the presence and involvement of students in creating the University of Lodz space. At the same time, they provide a direct, visual expression of the idea of cooperation that underpinned the entire project – after all, it is the result of the collaborative work of everyone involved from start to finish!
The hands, a crucial element of the mural, cannot be overlooked. Cut from PVC, painted by the students, and mounted on spacers, they gave the mural a layered effect, while the hands themselves became a symbolic "brick" – a real, material trace of the students' involvement in the creation of the work, emphasising their crucial role in the creative process.
But what exactly were the workshops about?
Students who participated in the workshops had an opportunity to gain knowledge in the areas of interviews, design thinking and space planning with and for the community.
Specialists in these areas guided those involved in the meetings during:
- kick-off workshops;
- community interviews;
- social workshops – analysis of interviews and selection of a social problem;
- conceptual workshops with the participation of an artist – prototyping.

UniLodz is all about people, so thank you for being with us and contributing to the transformation of the University of Lodz Student Campus! Well done!
