ScienceON: Turn on Responsibility – Show the Impact of Your Research Activity

Did you know that your academic achievements can be presented not only through publications, projects or other accomplishments, but also in terms of their social, environmental and economic significance? This is precisely what the option of tagging the Sustainable Development Goals in the ScienceON system is designed for.

Do your research activities address contemporary challenges?

Science plays a key role in seeking solutions to social, environmental and economic problems. Regardless of the discipline you represent, your research, teaching activity or science popularisation initiatives – such as open lectures, meetings, educational activities and cooperation with the social environment – may contribute to the achievement of one or more Sustainable Development Goals.

Tagging goals in ScienceON (ScienceON University Achievement Information System) helps to better demonstrate this connection and organise information about ongoing activities within a broader context.

How to assign Sustainable Development Goals in ScienceON?

Currently, the option of tagging applies primarily to publications as well as new activities and achievements recorded in the system.

To assign a goal to a publication:

  • open the publication for editing in ScienceON,
  • go to the “Sustainable Development Goals” field,
  • select the goal or goals corresponding to the subject of the publication,
  • save the changes.

Instructional materials are available on the campaign website (in Polish), including a PDF guide (in Polish) and a video presenting the process step by step.

Why is it worth tagging the Sustainable Development Goals?

Tagging your achievements in ScienceON allows you to:

  • increase the visibility of academic achievements, also beyond the academic community,
  • demonstrate the significance of conducted research and other academic activities, including science popularisation efforts,
  • build a more comprehensive picture of your research activity,
  • present your achievements in the context of global challenges and international research priorities.

It is also a way to show how your activity reaches society and supports the popularisation of science and the dissemination of knowledge.

Not sure which goal to choose? You should start by answering the question of which problem or challenge your publication or activity addresses. A single achievement may contribute to more than one goal.

Detailed information about the campaign, instructions and supporting materials are available on the „ScienceON: włącz odpowiedzialność” website.
