Podsumowanie IX edycji Projektu mentorskiego UŁ

On 20 June 2022, in the Biedermann’s Palace, a solemn summary of the Mentorship Project of the University of Lodz took place. For 9 years now, the University of Lodz has been implementing this original project, addressed to students from all faculties. Outstanding graduates of the University of Lodz – representatives of the world of business, politics, media and culture, who act as experts sharing their knowledge and experience, support our ambitious students in taking up challenges and finding their own career path.

Przemysław Fabjanowski (Centre for External Relations), prof. Agnieszka Kurczewska (the UL Vice-Rector for External Relations)

This year's edition of the Mentorship Project was attended by 34 UL VIP Alumni and 41 students. The role of mentors is taken every year by people holding high positions in leading companies and organisations that operate in Poland. Many mentors have been involved in the Project from its very beginning, since its first edition. This year, the mentoring group consisted of, among others: Adam Nitecki – General Director of Consumer Products Division, L'Oreal Polska, Kazimierz Ujazdowski – Senator of the Republic of Poland or Anna Maria Wesołowska – retired judge.

The mentoring process often included several meetings between January and June 2022.
During this time, the mentorship pairs first learned about each other's expectations, set goals together and then planned activities for the following six months. The meetings were held both in the online and stationary (on-site) modes.

During the meeting summarizing the 9th edition of the Mentorship Project of the University of Lodz, the Vice-Rector for External Relations of the University of Lodz, prof. Agnieszka Kurczewska, took the floor:

The mentorship programme is a programme that we are very proud of, which gives satisfaction to both parties, students and mentors. Dear students, you have the opportunity to meet non-standard, unconventional people who have done something interesting with their lives. Such meetings are the most important – they often shape the entire further professional life.

The participants also shared their afterthoughts and experiences on working in mentorship pairs.

Meetings with the Judge (Anna Maria Wesołowska) were held in the stationary (on-site) mode and they mainly pertained to the issues related to my future professional path, but also current topics from the legal community. The Judge is an incredibly open person who is willing to share her vast knowledge and impressive experience. I am happy that I could and still can take advantage of her invaluable advice that helps me consciously shape my future. The opportunity to develop my talents under the wings of such an Authority as Judge Anna Maria Wesołowska is a real privilege. I am honoured to be a participant of such a great initiative as the mentorship project.

– recalls Natalia Staciwa, a participant of this year's edition of the Project.

Przemysław Zakrzewski – Head of Corporate Technology Center at ABB was a special guest of the event. During his inspiring speech entitled "FUTURE AHEAD. Will modern technologies save us?", he talked about the most important trends, opportunities and threats of the technological future.

Participation in the Mentorship Project of the University of Lodz is a unique opportunity for students to expand their knowledge and acquire new skills under the supervision of experts, business practitioners. For mentors, on the other hand, it is an opportunity to use their competences, experience and join in the development of the most talented students from Lodz. Cooperation on the "student-master" line often goes beyond the period of the Project's implementation, some mentorship pairs, despite the official end of the Project, still plan joint meetings, new projects and challenges.

The so far nine editions have been attended by over 300 students who have benefited from the knowledge and experience of over 75 mentors – VIP Alumni of the University of Lodz.

Call for the 10th edition of the UL Mentorship Project will start in October 2022.
