Place of the event: ul. Marii Skłodowskiej-Curie 11, 90-505 Łódź
When: 13 May 2024 (Monday) 18:00 - 20:00

The opening of the exhibition "Taxo. Sztuka dotyku" [Taxo. The Art of Touch] will be held on Monday (13 May) at 6:00 p.m. at the university's Wozownia 11 Gallery. The exhibition is a part of a project carried out for six years by two artists from Lodz – Tamara Sass and Joanna Apanowicz. The project addresses the disproportionate access to the contemporary art for visually impaired people and strives to create responsible art based on a balance of different types of sensory perception.

As part of the "Sztuka dotyku" project, which has been ongoing for over six years, a number of workshops have been held so far, including: a workshop at the School for the Visually Impaired in Lodz and seven exhibitions – three in art galleries, two at the University of Lodz and one during the National Science and Art Conference Ko-Respondecja Na Styku Sztuk at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Białystok.

The last exhibition "Taxo. Sztuka dotyku" was created in the difficult circumstances of the pandemic, on the premises of the Imaginarium Gallery in Łódzki Dom Kultury. The unconventionally arranged exhibition was thought-provoking in the face of the pandemic's reinforced progressive depreciation of touch and the specificity of human interaction created by the internet and multimedia. In addition to Joanna Apanowicz and Tamara Sass, two artists from Norway took part in the exhibition: Randi Strand and Ellen Henriette Suhrke
