We are delighted that the beauty and unique character of this historic residence are being presented to a broad audience, including beyond Łódź. For the University of Lodz, it is a source of pride that one of its most valuable historic landmarks has become a part of an artistic undertaking and is reaching new audiences.
The cooperation with the Kujawsko-Pomorski Musical Theater in Toruń demonstrates that the Biedermann’s Palace, a venue that regularly hosts concerts, meetings, academic events and cultural activities, can also serve as an inspiring space for theatre and film creators.
“Kelnerskie tango” is an original musical by Jakub Przebindowski. The story transports audiences to Toruń in 1901, immersing them in the world of historic cafés, restaurants and open-air garden theatres. The protagonist, Hanka Kruk, leaves domestic service behind and attempts to find her place in the male-dominated profession of waiting staff. The production combines social, romantic, crime, and revue-cabaret themes.
