Dialog Polsko-Japoński na UŁ

The Polish-Japanese Dialogue academic exchange forum took place on 23 June 2021 in the online form. The event is a joint initiative of the International Hub and the Centre for Asian Affairs of the University of Lodz, the goal of which is to establish contacts and promote research cooperation with academic partners from Japan.

Ambassador of Japan, Mr. Akio Miyajima and the Second Secretary of the Polish Embassy in Tokyo, Ms. Małgorzata Szmidt took part in the opening of the event. After ceremonial opening during which the welcoming word was delivered by the UL Rector, prof. Elżbieta Żądzińska, an international profile of the University of Lodz, was presented by prof. dr hab. Łukasz Bogucki. The seminar was attended by professor Kazuo Fuji from the Kwansei Gakuin University, professor Kenichi Togawa and professor Yoko Yoshida from the Kumamoto University as well as representatives of the Chiba, Kyushu, Osaka Universities and Muroran Institute of Technology.

On the Polish side, we could listen to a speech by prof. Karol Żakowski and Elżbieta Mierzejewska from the University of Lodz and Mr. Zachariasz Popiołek from the Keio University. During the seminar, scientists from the University of Lodz and scientists from Japan presented assumptions of their own research projects and experience in the so far cooperation. The attendees also talked about the challenges of conducting research in Japan and Poland, and about the possibility of implementation of joint research projects.

This is the first of a series of initiatives that the Centre for Asian Affairs intends to carry out in cooperation with the International Hub. Scientists from China, ASEAN, South Korea and Taiwan will be invited to participate in the subsequent seminars. The projects will be carried out with the support of Polish diplomatic missions in the region
