Building Safety Together
University safety concerns members of staff, students, doctoral school participants and all individuals present on university premises. It also encompasses the protection of research, property and infrastructure. Ensuring safety requires effective organisation, appropriate procedures and technologies, as well as cooperation and the sharing of experiences between universities and public institutions.
For this reason, we invite coordinators responsible for safety-related activities at Polish public universities to attend the first meeting of its kind. The event will combine expert presentations, discussions on solutions implemented across different institutions and workshop sessions.
Topics of Discussion
The meeting will focus on four key areas:
- organisation of safety-related activities and responding to crisis situations;
- research security and identifying threats to the academic community;
- the protection of facilities and infrastructure, including the use of technological solutions;
- cooperation with institutions responsible for public safety and the development of a culture of safety at universities.
The programme for the first day will include presentations devoted, among other topics, to university security measures in the European Union, institutional security, the protection of scientific research and threats associated with intelligence-related activities. The workshop sessions will focus on the organisation of university safety systems, raising awareness within the academic community and responding to crises.
On the second day, participants will work on solutions related to technical infrastructure, alarm and SOS systems, as well as cooperation with the police and other services responsible for public safety.
The meeting will take place on 5–6 November 2026 at the University of Lodz Training and Conference Centre, located at Kopcińskiego 16/18, Łódź and will be held in Polish.
