Cooperation in practice
The partnership has yielded a number of tangible results so far. The University of Lodz students have completed internships and traineeships within the club, gaining valuable professional experience – some of them have joined the Widzew Łódź team as employees.
The university representatives and students from student science clubs also had the opportunity to participate in matches, workshops and meetings organised at the stadium, learning about the behind-the-scenes operation of a large sports organisation.
The cooperation also included expert events – the University of Lodz was a partner in events such as the Local Government Congress, and the UniLodz scientists participated in debates and conferences in the Moneyball series, which connected the worlds of science, sports and business.
Social initiatives were also an important element of the joint activities, including support for children from Ukraine in 2022 – from organisational assistance to the inclusion of young athletes in Widzew's training sessions.
President of the club, Michał Rydz, as a VIP Alumnus of the University of Lodz, has been involved as a mentor in the Mentorship Programme for two editions, sharing his experience with students and showing in practice how academic knowledge translates into the management of a large sports organisation.
What's next?
The renewed agreement paves the way for the further development of joint educational, social and organisational projects, based on the experience and values developed since 2022.
