The University of Lodz has joined the group of partners of the Port Polska programme. The agreement signed with Centralny Port Komunikacyjny opens up new opportunities for scientific, educational, and research and development cooperation, while also integrating the University of Lodz’s expert potential into the implementation of one of the most important infrastructure projects in Poland.
The cooperation will include, among other things, conducting joint research and analyses related to regional development, preparing expert studies for the investment project, developing innovative solutions, and transferring knowledge and technology to the economy. The partners will also jointly apply for research projects and organise conferences, seminars and events promoting knowledge dissemination.
The development of education is also a strong pillar of the agreement. Students of the University of Lodz will have an opportunity to prepare diploma theses in cooperation with Centralny Port Komunikacyjny, undertake internships and study visits, participate in classes delivered by experts, and develop competences related to the planning and implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects, including the use of BIM methodology. The agreement also provides for cooperation in the creation of new non-degree postgraduate studies, training programmes, and teaching materials.
Port Polska is a programme of groundbreaking importance for Łódź. Thanks to this investment, our city will be visited more frequently by guests from all over the world, which constitutes one of the strongest development impulses for science, the economy, and culture. The University of Lodz wants to be, and should be, part of this process – from the planning stage of the investment through to the moment when this infrastructure becomes part of the city’s everyday functioning. It also marks a new chapter in relations between Łódź and Warsaw, often described through the vision of a Duopolis, which is now taking on a real and tangible form. The agreement also creates space for the exchange of knowledge and experience between the academic community and practitioners involved in delivering the investment project. It provides for the mutual sharing of information supporting research and educational activities, the participation of company representatives in the improvement of study curricula, and the possibility for University of Lodz employees to deliver training programmes and non-degree postgraduate studies for the company’s staff.
Łódź is one of the most important academic centres in Poland. The University of Lodz is already the second higher education institution in Łódź with which we have signed a cooperation agreement. Together with the University and Lodz University of Technology, we can address issues that require expertise from both fundamental and applied sciences. I am convinced that this agreement will soon be filled with substance in the form of concrete joint initiatives

The signed agreement is of a framework nature and outlines the directions for long-term cooperation between the University of Lodz and Centralny Port Komunikacyjny. Its aim is to harness the university’s scientific potential for the development of the Port Polska programme while simultaneously creating new development opportunities for students, researchers and the entire region.
