Uniwersytet Łódzki Pracodawcą Przyjaznym Pracownikom!

University of Lodz has been awarded in the 13th edition of the "Employee-Friendly Employer" competition. The statuette was collected by the UL Rector, Elżbieta Żądzińska from the hands of the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda. This way, the University of Lodz, as the only university in the country, is in the group of 20 Polish companies and institutions, whose efforts to provide optimal conditions for employees were noticed by relevant trade unions. This is yet another award of this type for the University of Lodz; the previous one was received in 2015. The competition is organised by the Independent and Self-Governing Trade Union Solidarność (NSZZ "Solidarność").

– Thank you for the fair business, for how you run your companies and institutions. Thank you for how you treat your employees, that for you, they constitute a value – said President of Poland during the ceremony. – Without an employee who works well and who is motivated it is impossible to achieve great results. Achieving excellent results depends precisely on: not ripping off employees, but on sharing profits fairly.

–  This distinction is a great honour for us, but at the same time it is a clear signal that the University of Lodz fulfils its tasks as an employer well. What we think about our workplace translates directly into results of the whole institution, I am fully aware of that. Therefore, we will try to take care of working conditions in a consistent and holistic manner as this is the best way for an institution to develop efficiently, regardless of whether it’s a private company or a public university. I would like to thank „Solidarność” of our University for their trust and appreciation of our efforts," says the UL Rector, Elżbieta Żądzińska.

The „Employee-Friendly Employer” competition promotes employers who stand out in terms of compliance with the labour law regulations, in particular through stability of employment, following occupational health and safety rules and the right to join trade unions. This is the only such a competition in which candidates for the award are put forward by the employees themselves – employees who are members of the "Solidarność" trade union.
