The closing remarks, devoted to one of the prosecutors in the Greiser trial – Mieczysław Siewierski, later a Professor in the Department of Criminal Law at the University of Lodz – were presented by Prof. Witold Kulesza.
The subject matter of this special event referred to the 80th anniversary of the Greiser trial before the Supreme National Tribunal, which falls in July. Other Professors from the Department of Criminal Law also played key roles in the trial: Jerzy Sawicki as the second prosecutor, and Emil Stanisław Rappaport as the presiding judge.
A monograph by Dieter Schenk and Witold Kulesza, “Arthur Greiser. Ein Naziverbrecher und sein »Mustergau« in Polen” (Verlag J.H.W. Dietz Nachf., Bonn 2026), with a foreword by Jan Kulesza, is scheduled for publication in September. The monograph constitutes the German edition of the book “Arthur Greiser. Biografia i proces namiestnika III Rzeszy w Kraju Warty”, published by Lodz University Press, Łódź 2023.
The visit of Dr h.c. Dieter Schenk to the Faculty of Law and Administration was accompanied by an exhibition in the main hall of the Faculty building, presenting publications by him, Prof. Witold Kulesza and Prof. Jan Kulesza, along with biographical notes on the authors.
