Research networks created as part of consortia, partnership projects and multilateral scientific cooperation are a significant tool for facing European and global research challenges. Participation of the University of Lodz in the international networks allows for cooperation with the leading scientific and industrial partners from European and non-European countries and regions.

dr Piotr Pęzik -Faculty of Philology

University of Lodz is a member of CLARIN-PL consortium – the Polish part of the pan-European  scientific infrastructure CLARIN - Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure [link  www.clarin.eu], which includes digital archives of texts and tools for their automatic analysis.

CLARIN is a part of the European Roadmap for Research Infrastructure (ESFRI - European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures). It is to provide advanced research tools in the field of text and speech analysis for the broadly understood humanities and social sciences.

CLARIN-PL consortium consists of Polish universities and research institutes, where repositories of written and spoken texts in Polish as well as their equivalents in other languages are created. The aim of the consortium is to fill the gap in the field of adaptation of language technologies to Polish, to enable access to rich resources in Polish, visible from any point in Europe, to encourage research taking into consideration Polish-language materials and to promote Polish language and culture in Europe and all over the world.

As part of the project various programmes are created. They will be helpful in, among others, determining authorship of anonymous texts, determining a psychological profile of an author, automatic summarizing, extracting knowledge and information form texts as well as studying connections in business, politics and science.

BiodivERsA  is a network of collaborating with one another organisations that fund science. It has been created to promote pan-European research focusing on natural environment protection and sustainable management of biodiversity. The network accomplishes this goal by organising competitions for international research projects. Read more: https://www.biodiversa.org/

Era-Net Smart Urban Futures - 3S RECIPE (Smart Shrinkage Solutions: fostering resilient cities in inner peripheries of Europe)

The Project is realized within the JPI Urban Europe research network. An international team (scientists from France, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Great Britain and Poland) is investigating how to reverse action of multiple economic and social factors so as to transform shrinking cities into sustainable, resident-friendly and economically thriving urban centres.
