Dominik Lubasz, Associate Professor at the University of Lodz, specialises in the legal aspects of artificial intelligence and personal data protection, with particular focus on the EU digital regulatory framework: the GDPR, the AI Act, the Data Act, the DSA/DMA, NIS2, and DORA.
He is the author of the first comprehensive Polish monograph at the intersection of the GDPR and AI regulation — RODO dla AI. Zgodność z zasadami godnej zaufania sztucznej inteligencji w modelu data protection by design (Wolters Kluwer Polska, Warsaw 2025). An English-language edition, GDPR for AI: A Legal Framework for Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence Through Data Protection by Design, is forthcoming with Kluwer Law International.
He serves as Director of CLAIRE — Centre for LegalTech and AI Research at the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Łódź — a research unit focused on the economic dimension of artificial intelligence, technological compliance, and the automation of legal processes. CLAIRE forms part of the Faculty's AI Hub.
His research includes the bilateral Polish-German initiative BRIDGE (Bilateral Research Initiative on Data and the Governance of Emerging Technologies), conducted in partnership with Professor Boris P. Paal of the Technische Universität München.
He combines academic scholarship with legal practice: admitted to the Polish Bar of Legal Advisers since 2004, he has served as Managing Partner of Lubasz i Wspólnicy law firm since 2013. He is co-creator of two LegalTech applications: GDPR Risk Tracker and AILIA (Artificial Intelligence Legitimate Interest Assessment).
He actively contributes to the shaping of national and European regulation as an expert of the European Data Protection Board (since 2023), an expert of the Council of Europe (since 2025), a member of the Expert Advisory Panel to the President of the Polish Data Protection Authority (UODO) and coordinator of its AI subgroup, a member of the AI Working Group at the Ministry of Digitalisation, and a member of the New Technologies Committee of the National Bar of Legal Advisers.
