Job description

Department of Research on Development of State and Law

She fulfills the duties of a research and academic staff member, as well as responsibilities arising from leading the Department of Research on the Development of the State and Law.

She presents her research findings at national and international scientific conferences and publishes them in academic journals and monographs.

She delivers lectures on the history of the Polish state and law, conducts seminars, methodological discussions, practical classes, and supervises BA and MA seminars.


Functions

Bio

A graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Łódź (2004), she defended her doctoral dissertation in 2009, prepared under the supervision of Prof. Jacek Matuszewski, on the topic: "Małżeńskie prawo majątkowe w świetle intercyz sporządzonych przez łódzkich notariuszy w latach 1841-1875". In 2020, the Science Committee in the discipline of law at the University of Łódź awarded her the title of habilitated doctor based on her monograph "Własność prefabrykancka w Łodzi w latach 1820-1866".

She is currently employed as an Associate Professor.

Her research focuses on the history of judicial law in Polish territories and comparative legal studies, particularly 19th-century matrimonial, property, and inheritance law, as well as its transformations in the 20th century. She is the author and co-author of numerous academic and popular science publications and has presented her research at both international and national conferences. Additionally, she has organized numerous conferences.

She has successfully completed a research grant funded by the National Science Centre on "Inheritance Law of the Second Polish Republic in the Case Law of District Courts."

She holds the following positions:

  • Vice-Dean for Research at the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Łódź,
  • Vice-Chair of the University of Łódź Committee on Academic Degrees in the Discipline of Legal Sciences,
  • Chair of the Library Council of the Faculty of Law and Administration,
  • Head of the Department of Research on the Development of the State and Law,
  • Head of the Research Unit on the Development of Administration and Law.

She is a member of the following scientific societies:

  • Polskie Towarzystwo Historyczne (Polish Historical Society),
  • European Society for Comparative Legal History,
  • Polskiego Towarzystwa Historii Prawa (Polish Society for Legal History) – Chair of the Audit Committee.


She supervises the Student Research Club for Legal History at the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Łódź.

Achievements

  • 2021 – First-degree Individual Award granted by the Rector’s Award of the University of Łódź for the book "Własność prefabrykancka w Łodzi w latach 1820-1866", Łódź 2019.
  • 2022 – Award granted by the Rector’s Award of the University of Łódź for a significant contribution to the evaluation of the quality of scientific activity at the University of Łódź in the years 2017–2021.
