Managing the work of the Department of Applied Linguistics and Didactics of Romance Languages.


Conducting research and teaching courses in applied linguistics and glottodidactics.

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Romanist. A faculty member at the University of Łódź since 1980.

Academic career development:

  • Doctor of Humanities in Romance Linguistics (Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, 1988)

  • Habilitated Doctor of Humanities in Applied Linguistics (Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, 1995)

  • Professor of Humanities (Title conferred by the President of Poland), 2005)

Specialist in applied linguistics and glottodidactics.

Research interests focus on the analysis of subsystems of the French language and their acquisition in educational settings. A particular emphasis is placed on contemporary French phonetics and orthography. Other areas of study include abbreviated lexical forms found in both spoken and written contemporary French, in real and virtual communication.


A rich and diverse academic output, with over one hundred publications, including monographs, coursebooks, dictionaries, methodological guides, school textbooks, and other teaching materials for French as a foreign language.


PKA (Polish Accreditation Committee) expert.


Ministry of National Education (MEN) expert, evaluating and approving textbooks and teaching materials for school use

 


INTERESTS

Research interests: See above.

Other professional interests include the culture of French-speaking countries. An active promoter of French culture in Poland, he has organized lectures, presentations, workshops, concerts, performances, exhibitions, and other educational and artistic projects.

He is the initiator and organizer of the event French in the World and at the University, held at the University of Łódź. He has also co-organized France Days and Francophonie Days in Łódź.

An expert on the life and work of Édith Piaf, he is the author of two books:

  • Voici Édith Piaf – Odsłony z życia Édith Giovanny Gassion (2010)

  • Moja Piaf (2021).

 


ACHIEVEMENTS

Supervisor in six doctoral dissertations.

 

Author of two academic and educational programs awarded the European Label for Education, granted by the Minister of National Education, the European Commission, and the Foundation for the Development of the Education System (FRSE) (2003, 2016).

Multiple recipient of the Rector's Award of the University of Łódź for scientific, teaching, and mentoring achievements.

Honors and distinctions:

  • Gold Badge awarded by the Rector and Senate of the University of Łódź (2000)

  • Medal of the National Education Commission (2004)

  • Silver Medal for Longstanding Service, awarded by the President of Poland (2008)

  • Gold Medal for Longstanding Service, awarded by the President of Poland (2021)

  • Medal for Service to Society and Science, awarded by the Authorities of the University of Łódź.
