The Department of Applied Linguistics and Romance Language Teaching at the

Institute of Romance Studies at the University of Łódź conducts scientific

research in the field of applied linguistics and foreign language teaching,

with particular focus on the didactics of French as a foreign language. The

main research areas are as follows:

• Foreign language as a subject of teaching and learning
• Methodology of developing glottodidactic materials – theoretical and practical aspects
• Research on contemporary French vocabulary – linguistic and didactic aspects
• Argot in French literature
• Argot in the teaching of French as a foreign language
• Interlanguage and intralanguage interference
• New technologies in foreign language teaching
• Language subsystems in glottodidactic practice
• Phonetics and orthography of contemporary French – linguistic and didactic aspects
• Developing writing skills in a foreign language at the academic level
• Cognitive models in language teaching at the academic level
• Didactics of foreign-language translation
• History of foreign language teaching in Poland
