Department of Labour Law, Social Security and Social Policy

1. Position: researcher and academic teacher 

Teaching duties include: conducting lectures and seminars on topics related to the protection of human rights in labor law and employment, the employment of foreigners, and the legal aspects of employee selection and recruitment; conducting classes on labor law for course subjects; conducting master's seminars; conducting exams and assessments; supervising and reviewing theses;

Organisational responsibilities include: participating in the work of the University of Lodz Senate committees (Election Committee and Statutory and Organisational Committee); performing assigned functions; performing functions within the Comparative Center for Labor Law and Social Security, organising seminars and scientific conferences; cooperating with the socio-economic environment as part of the Employee Councils Support Center project (agreement between the Faculty of Law and Administration and INSPO) and as part of membership in the Council for Dialogue with Trade Unions (Order of the Minister of Higher Education and Science);

Research duties include: preparing scientific papers and conducting and participating in research, in particular in the field of decent and sustainable work throughout the life cycle, prohibition of discrimination on grounds of age, gender, and disability, protection of the rights of older people in employment, extending professional activity and legal measures to combat unemployment, as well as supporting taking up and remaining in employment, legal aspects of employee selection and recruitment; participating in conferences and scientific seminars; conducting comparative, interdisciplinary research and international projects (see achievements);

Responsibilities: planning scientific, research, and organizational projects, identifying areas of research, and implementing planned activities; organising seminars and scientific meetings.

Bio

Tatiana Wrocławska (Doctor in Legal Sciences) is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Labor Law, Social Security, and Social Policy at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Lodz (since 2007). She graduated with honours from the Master's programme at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Lodz, achieving a number of Medals for Glorious Studies. From 2001 to 2006, she was a PhD student in the Department of Labour Law.The title of doctoral dissertation: The right to strike in the labor law of the Baltic states in the light of international law. Implications for Poland.

Her current research interests focus on the legal aspects of sustainable work throughout the life course, and on creating a working environment that provides the opportunity to continue working for as long as possible. Accordingly, her scientific work focuses on searching for the balance between axiology and legal instruments, making a human-centred approach a priority.

  • Member and co-founder of the Comparative Center for Labor Law and Social Security (COMPASS). For years (since 2011), she has been providing substantive support to the Work Councils Support Center project, including supervising and supporting the preparation of legal opinions by students (agreement between the Faculty of Law and Administration and INSPRO since 2016). Chair of the Organising Committee of the “Competition for a Gloss,” organized by the Department of Labor Law and co-organizer of the “Labor Law Knowledge Competition,” organized by the Department of Labor Law.
  • Author and co-author of scientific studies focusing on the rights of people belonging to groups vulnerable to abuse in employment (due to age, gender, disability, basis of employment), as well as on the role of employees representation. She has prepared over 80 scientific works, including publications of various types (in particular chapters in scientific monographs, commentaries on normative acts, scientific articles, glosses (list in the section: achievements). She works as an expert at the Center for Expert Knowledge at the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Lodz.
  • Member of interdisciplinary, international, and national research and scientific projects, in which she studied the scope of protection of the rights of women, children, self-employed persons, and the elderly, as well as the legal aspects of sustainable work (see the list in the section: achievements). Her current research interests within the projects she is involved in focus on the issue of sustainable work throughout the life cycle and extending the professional activity of older people. 
  • Awarded by the Rector of the University of Lodz for scientific activity (2012, 2016, 2019), didactic (2025), and organisational work (2024).
  • Upholds long-standing international and interdisciplinary cooperation. Since 2002, he has been cooperating with the Faculty of Law at Vilnius University; since 2010 – with the Law Institute n Vilnius; since 2010 – with the Department of Human Resource Management at the University of Lodz; since 2013 – with the Department of Constitutional Law at the  University of Lodz, since 2022 - the member of interdisciplinary team created in project for sustainable work. 
  • Conducts lectures and seminars at the faculties of the University of Lodz (in particular at studies such as: administration, law, human resources management, international human resource management, accounting, and IT), as well as lecturer of the Erasmus+ program.
  • Supervisor of master's theses, awarded in the 3rd and 4th editions of the Competition for the best master's and bachelor's thesis, organised by the Regional Labor Inspectorate and the Department of Labor Law, Social Insurance and Social Policy of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Lodz.
  • Contractor (investigator) in didactic and teaching competence improvement grants (Training of Personnel for the Needs of the Flexicurity Market and Knowledge-Based Economy, Grant for Young Scientists, Build up, Didactic Excellence of Universities, Masters of Didactics, The Power of Didactics) and a tutor at the University of Lodz.
  • Member of the University Election Committee at the University of Lodz and the Statutory and Organisational Committee at the University of Lodz.
  • Disciplinary Prosecutor for Doctoral Students at the University of Lodz for two terms (2016-2024), and, in the 2020-2024 term - as Disciplinary Prosecutor for Students at the University of Lodz.
  • Member of the Presidium of the Council for Higher Education and Science of the Polish Teachers' Union (ZNP) and the Council for Dialogue with Trade Unions, appointed on the basis of the order of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of May 19, 2025. (legal basis: Article 7(4)(5) of the Act of August 8, 1996, on the Council of Ministers).

  • axiology of employment rights protection; 
  • interdisciplinary links between labor law (sociological, economic, medical, biological, and cultural aspects;
  • human rights in employment, protection of employees' rights in employment; protection of employee's dignity;
  • research on legal aspects of sustainable work throughout the life cycle and the role of the work environment in extending professional activity;
  • shaping working conditions that support longer professional activity; 
  • the role of the workplace community in shaping employees well-being; 
  • conditions for building workplace social dialogue and strengthening employees representation (persons in gainful employment); counteracting the development of extreme individualism in the workplace;

Pro bono activities, social works and volunteering:

  • in cooperation with non-governmental organisations (including the ‘KŁOS’ association, the Iuris Academy, ‘Kocham Życie’ and INSPRO),
  • legal advices on labour law issues for members of the academic community - in difficult situations and with special needs;
  • tutoring - supporting student's development; organising students participation in court hearings - in labour law cases - thanks to the involvement and cooperation of the court chair and judges of the district court (10th Labour and Social Security Division in Lodz);
  • activities and community work for the academic community - due to membership in a workplace trade union (including assistance and legal advice on employee matters) and participation in the development of company labour law;
  • activities and community work due to membership in the Presidium of RSWiN ZNP and membership (by order of the Minister of Science and Higher Education) at Council for Dialogue with Trade Unions;
