More than 300 new species have been described
Research by scientists from the University of Lodz in cooperation with the Institute of Marine Research (IMR) in Bergen has contributed to a significant increase in knowledge about the flora and fauna of the seabed off the coast of Ghana. Over 300 new species of marine organisms have been discovered. The conducted research, reaching a depth of 1,000 m, has made it possible to assess the state of the marine environment, which is particularly exposed to the impact of human activities, such as oil and gas extraction and climate change. The work of a team of biologists led by Prof. Krzysztof Pabis, has provided valuable information about the complex relationships between organisms and environmental factors, which became a point of reference for similar research of this type in the future.
