This is a unique distinction for socially active institutions working for equality, counteracting discrimination and including excluded groups.
University of Lodz – Support for non-binary and transgender people
This time we were nominated for the initiative "University of Lodz – Support for non-binary and transgender people" in the category: Award for a non-business organisation, including a non-governmental organisation, a state or private university, or a public institution (excluding local governments), which conducts active activities in the field of diversity management and thus contributes to building social cohesion.
What are our actions in practice?
At UniLodz, we have implemented comprehensive support for non-binary and transgender people, creating a space where everyone can function in harmony with their identity. The initiative aimed to ensure the safety and comfort of academic life and to combat exclusion and discrimination. Our activities are aimed at students and employees of our university, and their effect is to build a more open, empathetic and responsible academic community.
As part of the project, we introduced, among other things, the ability to use preferred names and pronouns in Microsoft 365, support from the Support and Accessibility Centre in contacts with teaching staff, and consultations with LGBTQ+ experts as part of psychological support.
Now everything is in your hands – every vote counts!
Online voting is a part of the final evaluation process, and every vote counts in selecting the winners. Voting is open until 31 October 2025.
Voting takes place via the website: https://odpowiedzialnybiznes.pl/karta-roznorodnosci/nagroda/glosowanie/
Why should you vote? Supporting the University of Lodz in this competition is an opportunity for our university to be recognised for its pro-social activities and values, not just its academic ones. It's also a form of community engagement – employees, students and doctoral candidates can actively participate in promoting diversity. Let's demonstrate that values such as openness, respect and cooperation are the foundation of our university.
The results will be announced at a gala in November 2025.
Diversity IN Check. UniLodz on the path to inclusion and openness
This isn't the first time our efforts have been recognised and noticed: in May, we were included in the 5th edition of the Diversity IN Check survey, which covers areas such as the level of inclusion and diversity among employers in both the public and private sectors. This confirms the right direction of our actions, acknowledges our efforts, and provides an opportunity to assess the University of Lodz's maturity compared to other employers. The results were announced on 27 May 2025, during the Responsible Business Forum conference concluding Diversity Month.
