Uniwersytecki Piknik Lekkoatletyczny na medal!

On Sunday, 2 July at 11:00 a.m. at the AZS Lodz stadium at Lumumby 22/26 in Lodz, the second edition of the University of Lodz Athletics Picnic took place. The event was organised by the University of Lodz, with the support of the Environmental Organisation of the Academic Sports Association in Lodz. The picnic was held as part of the project "Trenuj z UŁ! Biegiem po zdrowie", from the "Social Responsibility of Science" programme of the Ministry of Education and Science.

In the course of the registration process, 300 people signed up for three running events of 60 and 1000 m and a Swedish relay 100x200x300x400! Therefore, the limit of places provided for by the organisers has been exhausted. As in the previous year, the event began with a solemn, generational parade on the tartan track of AZS Lodz. Children and youth, as well as parents and grandparents were marching bravely to the accompaniment of music. From 11:00 am, 60 m and 1000 m races began in seven age categories, i.e. U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U18 and seniors. Due to the number of contestants, the competition on these two distances lasted for over 4 hours! The last competition of the picnic was the 100x200x300x400m relay. After an extremely fierce fight, the FC PREDATORS relay team won.
The Picnic ended with the awards presentation, the draw for a special prize, i.e. a stay at the MaGórka guesthouse in the Low Beskids, and a speech by Dr Piotr Kędzia from the Sport Teachers Training Centre of the Faculty of Educational Sciences, manager of the project "Trenuj z UŁ! Biegiem po zdrowie".

Summing up, we should also mention that the organisers prepared attractive starting packages containing T-shirts, commemorative medals and prepared 96 material prizes for the first three places in each competition, taking into account age categories in the 60 and 1000m runs. The relay was held in the OPEN category.
