The publication is a great success for the poet and the translator. "Poetry" is one of the most recognized monthly poetry magazines in the United States. The periodical has been published for over 100 years and is consistently held in high esteem among its readers.
Without the "Poetry magazine", founded by Harriet Monroe in 1912 in Chicago, there would have been no modernist revolution in poetry. In its early activities the periodical published works by such figures as Ezra Pound, T. S. Eliot, Hilda Doolittle, Gertrude Stein, Wallace Stevens, Louis Zukofsky, Charles Reznikoff and many other modernist authors. I have been in contact with the poetry of these authors for many years as an Americanist, academic teacher, researcher, poet and a translator. Having been working at the intersection of American and Polish poetry for two decades now, I'm deeply grateful to be featured in Poetry magazine, the largest poetry-focused publication on Earth with a storied history (and it's also based in my hometown of Chicago).
