Prof. Goldstein w Komitecie Matematyki PAN

Professor Stanisław Goldstein from the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Lodz has been elected a member of the Committee on Mathematics of PAS for the term 2020-2023. Committees of the Polish Academy of Sciences constitute a national representation of various scientific environments and disciplines. They function as advisory and opinion-making bodies. Our congratulations!

 

Committees of the Polish Academy of Sciences also elaborate scientific positions and expert opinions for national administration, help to solve specific scientific issues. They give opinions on normative acts pertaining to science, its use as well as education and training. They also deal with dissemination and implementation of research results and support development of individual disciplines. The Committee of Mathematics was appointed in 1960.

Stanisław Jerzy Goldstein is a Professor at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, UL. He is in charge of the Department of Applied Computer Science, at the UL Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science. His scientific interests focus on functional analysis and computer science.

A scholarship holder of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation over the years 1989-1990. Vice-Dean for Computer Science at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Lodz over the years 2006-2012. From 2011 to 2019, he was the President of the Łódź Branch of the Polish Mathematical Society. A member of expert teams appointed by the Minister of Science and Higher Education over the years 2017-2019. On November 9, 2018, he received the Badge "For Merit for the City of Lodz". He is an active social activist and a president of the Lodz association - Institute of Tolerance.
