A tonne and three hundred kilograms – that's the total weight of the food we have donated this year to the furry residents of the Animal Shelter in Lodz as part of our university “Psia Kość!” campaign! It included a lot of specialised wet pet food, as that's what the institution's staff is most keen on. Plus, there was plenty of blankets and towels, which will also be very useful, especially in the upcoming winter. Currently, over 100 kg of food is needed daily for all the animals at the shelter, so we are providing them with support for over a week.
Together, we can more
Every year, members of the University of Lodz community join forces to support our four-legged friends, who wouldn't be able to cope without our help. Donations are left in marked boxes placed in nearly 40 locations across the university by students, doctoral students and employees at the University of Lodz, as well as our preschoolers, students and personnel of the Righteous Among the Nations State Secondary School of the University of Lodz and the British International School of the University of Lodz.
There are many people in need around us, and we help in various ways. However, every year we don't forget about homeless dogs and cats.
We would like to thank everyone who has joined this year's collection!
This has been the 14th annual “Psia Kość!” campaign! In total, we have donated 8.5 tonnes of food and numerous accessories to the residents of the Animal Shelter in Lodz. And this isn't our last word on this topic.
We have been supporting animals for years!
The “Psia Kość!” campaign at the University of Lodz is an annual donation collection for the Animal Shelter in Lodz that is organised in November. University of Lodz, as a socially responsible university, has been supporting four-legged residents of the shelter for many years. As part of its fourteen editions, we have collected about 8.5 tonnes of food, as well as blankets, medicines, toys and accessories needed for dogs and cats, and we have donated them to the shelter.
Additionally, in June 2019, a special edition of the campaign was held. It was aimed at educating and raising awareness of the adoption of homeless animals, dispelling myths about adoption and presenting various forms of assistance. We organised a meeting with representatives of the Animal Shelter in Lodz, the Załoga Bulldoga and the Kocia Mama Foundations, during which we talked about the situation of animals in shelters and about adoption. Our student, who specialises in dog therapy, talked about the influence of dogs on reducing stress in people. The Lodz University of Technology joined our campaign in 2020 and collected almost 100 kg of pet food. We are very happy that the initiative is developing.
