Social Problems and Social Work in Germany and Poland – Student Visit to Nuremberg

A student visit to Nuremberg took place at the OHM Georg Simon Technische Hochschule on 23-25 March 2026. It was held as part of the 3rd edition of the Binational Seminar "Social Problems and Social Work in Germany and Poland".

During the visit, the students had an opportunity to meet their German colleagues, with whom they will collaborate on small research projects during the summer semester. The goal is to understand and compare social work practices in both countries in the context of selected social issues.

The visit programme included integration workshops, which ended with a delicious treat prepared by the hosts.

The event participants also visited two inspiring institutions:

  • HeHanI e.V. – supporting older migrants in Germany.
  • Kulturladen Loni-Übler-Haus – working for the local community in the so-called "third place" formula.

On the last day as part of Community Work course, the UniLodz students presented their research projects, which they are working on under the YOUROPE. project.

We expect a return visit from our partners in the last week of May! The 2nd International Student Conference will be held then – we cordially invite you to participate! The announcement will be made shortly.

The binational seminar is led by two academic teachers from Germany, Prof. Dr Johannes Kloha and Prof. Dr Cosimo Mangione (Technische Hochschule Nürnberg), and two teachers from the UniLodz Faculty of Educational Sciences, i.e. Prof. Mariusz Granosik and Dr Anna Jarkiewicz.
