In this year’s edition of the PTBFM competition, four monographs authored by researchers from the Faculty of Philology were nominated in the Book of the Year category:
- Prof. Ewa Ciszewska| “Sojusznicy z rozsądku: Polska i Czechosłowacja w projekcie socjalistycznego internacjonalizmu filmowego w okresie 1945–1970” [Allies of Reason: Poland and Czechoslovakia in the Project of Socialist Film Internationalism, 1945–1970]
- Prof. Konrad Klejsa, mgr Jarosław Grzechowiak, dr Emil Sowiński | “Rozpowszechnianie filmów w PRL w latach 1957–1989” [Film Distribution in the Polish People’s Republic, 1957–1989]
- Prof. Elżbieta Ostrowska | “Wyobrażone tożsamości: dyskursy wspólnotowe w kinie polskim” [Imagined Identities: Community Discourses in Polish Cinema]
- Dr Emil Sowiński | “Niezależni producenci: Studio Filmowe im. Karola Irzykowskiego w latach 1981–2005” [Independent Producers: The Karol Irzykowski Film Studio, 1981–2005]
In the category recognising the best academic debuts, four authors received nominations, including Prof. Ewa Ciszewska, whose book "Sojusznicy z rozsądku... [Allies of Reason...] is once again among the nominated publications.
The winners of the PTBFM Book of the Year 2025 and PTBFM Debut of the Year 2025 competitions will be announced in early September. Nevertheless, the presence of so many publications in the final itself already constitutes a remarkable distinction and further confirms the strong standing of the Department of Film and Audio-Visual Media at the University of Lodz on the map of Polish humanities research.
