Summer School in Zagreb – Copyright Law in the Digital Era – Media, Creativity and AI”

WHO CAN ATTEND THE SUMMER SCHOOL?

The event is addressed to students of studying Law, Political Science, Economy Sociology, or related disciplines who:

  • have completed at least 60 ECTS (i.e. one full year of studies),
  • have sufficient knowledge of English at B2 level minimum,
  • are eager to expand their knowledge and develop critical perspectives on contemporary democratic challenges of copyrights

WHY IS IT WORTH IT?

  • high-quality academic programme
  • possibility of accumulating 4 ECTS
  • topic of important global and European significance
  • cultural attractions in the heart of Zagreb

FINANCING

The University of Lodz will award scholarships to participate in the Zagreb summer school covering;

  • travel costs: 1500 PLN
  • subsistence: 400 PLN / day
  • allowance: 75 PLN / day (student), 125 PLN / day (doctoral student)
  • The University of Lodz will also cover the participation fee 600 EUR

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Knowledge

The participant:

  • has knowledge of the fundamentals of international and EU copyright law
  • understands how copyright operates in media and creative industries
  • is familiar with selected legal issues related to AI, digitalisation, and content protection
  • understands mechanisms of copyright enforcement (e.g. online piracy)

Skills

The participant is able to:

  • analyse copyright law provisions and case law
  • identify legal issues in the media and digital environment
  • assess the legality of content use (including AI and data mining)
  • apply knowledge in practice (e.g. case studies, workshops)

Social competences

The participant:

  • is prepared to work in an international environment
  • understands the importance of intellectual property protection
  • acts responsibly and ethically in the context of new technologies
  • is ready for further learning and participation in debates on AI and copyright
