On 6 June, the jury of the "proMYK-i" 2017 competition announced the results of this year's, seventh edition of the competition for the best promotional and communication activities of Polish universities. The University of Lodz was distinguished for the campaign "University Diversity" organised by the Promotion Centre and the International Relations Office of the University of Lodz.

 

- University of Lodz is a tolerant, modern, responsible and committed university that fights against discrimination and integrates interculturally. All activities of the university that fit into this characteristic have been collected into one project - University Diversity. The project involves various activities throughout the year, aimed at: raising awareness of being part of an intercultural community and their own role as citizens of the world among students and employees of the University of Lodz, teaching the academic community and the inhabitants of Lodz the attitude of respect for diversity and intercultural communication, integration of the entire academic community of our university - says Anna Rolczak, Head of the Promotion Cewntre of the University of Lodz.

Due to the rapidly growing number of international students of the University of Lodz, there are already over 2,000 of them, representing approx. 95 nationalities, it has been decided to intensify activities integrating the community of the University of Lodz. As part of the action, an exhibition of posters with images of international students was created. During Christmas, Polish students and employees of the University of Lodz invited international students to their homes. During the Easter season, the International Cook Book was created, in which international students presented interesting recipes for dishes prepared in their countries in the spring.

The "proMYK-i" competition has been organised since 2011 by the Association of PR and Promotion of Polish Universities "PRom". This year's edition was decided during the 29th Conference of the association in Słupsk. The aim of the competition is to support and reward creative and effective activities in the field of communication, practice and promotional activities in Polish higher education. The competition includes two categories: activities promoting the main activities of a university and promotional and communication activities in the area of New Media.

A total of 12 proposals for promotional and communication activities from 8 universities were submitted to this year's "proMYK-i" competition. All submitted activities were evaluated by a professional jury composed of: kmdr por. Wojciech Mundt, President of the PRom Association, Aleksander Anikowski, Vice-President of the PRom Association, Marek Zimnak, honorary member of the PRom Association, Krzysztof Szwejk (SGGW) and Marek Kiczka (University of Economics in Katowice) - winners of previous competitions and Jan Zając (Sotrender), Łukasz Nowak (PCG Academia), Karolina Lewandowska (Centrum Efekty) and Marcin Witkowski (PRom Association).

- The jury awards one distinction and one main prize in each category. In our evaluations, we take into account the innovation and creativity of the reported activities, rationality and economic efficiency, achieved goals and impact, originality, methods of project implementation and compliance with the principles of public relations, with particular emphasis on ethical aspects - explains the jury member.
