Welcome to Poland – finansowanie z NAWA dla UŁ

On 30 May, the results of the call for applications in the Welcome to Poland programme were published. University of Lodz was the only Polish university to receive funding for the implementation of as many as three projects for a total amount of almost PLN 1.2 million. This will enable further activities in the field of internationalisation of the university and is a success of the International Hub and the International Relations Office. The units will implement the winning projects from June this year to May 2025.

PLN 1.2 million from NAWA funds for the internationalisation of the University of Lodz

As part of the projects that received a positive decision on the financing, the following activities are planned:

  • carrying out information and promotion activities supporting and popularising the MSCA (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions) and creating the Regional EURAXESS Centre in the iHub of the University of Lodz. It will provide practical information related to the employment and stay of international researchers in Poland;
  • deepening cooperation with partner universities within the UNIC alliance of European universities, e.g. through study trips and exchange of experiences in the field of recruitment for studies, as well as the design and implementation of virtual mobility;
  • promoting the University of Lodz study offer in Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, India, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe as well as promoting and integrating the multicultural environment of the University of Lodz through poster sessions, trips to fairs, online events, popular science panels, Ukrainian Days and new videos promoting the University of Lodz and the city of Lodz among prospective international students and partners of the university;
  • participating in international trade fairs related to higher education, such as EAIE, NAFSA and APAIE to learn about the latest global trends in higher education;
  • international convention of specialists in the field of recruitment for studies, organising communication with the Z generation training, communication in social media training and training for Polish and international employees on: building competences for effective cooperation in an international project team, presenting scientific achievements and their promotion on the Internet and social media, administrative aspects related to the employment of people from abroad;
  • organising onboarding courses with elements of gamification for international employees and students of the University of Lodz, allowing them to get used to working at the university and the education process after arriving in Poland, bilingual marking of central administration buildings, organising integration events for Polish and international students and creating an onsite and virtual Welcome Point.

Obtaining financing for as many as three projects is an undoubted success of the teams of both units. We were working on the concept and preparation of project applications for a long time. We conducted surveys and focus studies, which allowed us to specify the needs of our international guests and include them in the planned project activities. There are many challenges and a lot of work ahead of us, but also satisfaction from the implementation of ideas that serve the University of Lodz community and the brand of our institution

– says Liliana Lato, Head of the University of Lodz International Relations Office.
