Next, the participants enjoyed an interactive quiz with questions about Christmas traditions in different countries. It was an incredibly exciting contest, and the winner received a special prize. There was also an exchange of holiday wishes in the form of… postcards. Each participant received greetings written in the sender’s language and alphabet, and the search for a “Wish Buddy” created yet another opportunity for conversation, getting to know each other better and learning about the culture and language of our countries of origin. Traditional Christmas tree decorations took on a more metaphorical meaning this year. Together, we created a “Gratitude Tree,” where everyone could share their moments of happiness by writing down big and small reasons to be grateful in 2025.
The event was honoured by the presence of dr hab. Katarzyna de Lazari-Radek, the UniLodz Vice-Rector for Internationalisation of Science and Education, Associate Professor at the University of Lodz, who extended holiday greetings to those in attendance and expressed gratitude for the international community we are creating together.
The event, organised by the Welcome Point coordination team for international academics within the Employee Affairs Centre, was financed by NAWA Welcome to Poland, PATHWAYS project – Empowering Staff and International Researchers through Networking and Training (2023).
