"Summer Cinema for the Climate" has three proposals for the coming weekend
- On Saturday, 23 August at 5:00 p.m. in the Geyer Gardens at Piotrkowska 293/305, you can look into the distant future during a screening of "WALL-E." The screening of the Oscar-winning film for Best Animated Feature Film will be accompanied by a lecture by Diana Dąbrowska who is a film scholar.
- A day later, on Sunday, 24 August (at the same time of 8:00 p.m. and place) we would like to invite whole families to experience the wild with the DreamWorks film "Madagascar." Four animal friends experience the wild when they escape the Central Park Zoo and swim to the shores of Madagascar.
- Also on Sunday, 24 August, at noon, during the "Picnic of the Future" by the Lodz Special Economic Zone at the Ludwik Grohman’s Factory in Księży Młyn, the third instalment of Godfrey Reggio and Philip Glass's cult, critically acclaimed trilogy will be presented. Using stunning imagery and technique, "Naqoyqatsi" presents a beautiful and moving portrayal of humanity's relationship with nature and technology. The screening will be accompanied by an AI workshop led by Sergiusz Wasilewski.
Each screening will be preceded by a short lecture and a presentation of a nature film produced by the Forest Film Studio.
"Summer Cinema for the Climate" is a project implemented as part of Eco Academy, which is an educational programme planned for a few months and designed to inspire children and young people to think ecologically and find their place in nature. Educational activities, organised under the banner of the "Clean Nature" festival and encompassing as many as 40 workshops, will begin in September. Detailed information about them can be found on the websites: www.czystanatura.pl and www.akademiaeko.pl, where teaching materials and a catalogue of recommended films illustrating selected topics related to ecology will also be made available. Workshops conducted by educators and lectures by film experts will also be published.
