Prof. Michał Bijak from UniLodz as an INTERPOL Expert in an International Project on Biosecurity

We are pleased to announce that Prof. Michał Bijak from the Biohazard prevention Centre at the University of Lodz has been invited by INTERPOL's Bioterrorism Prevention Unit to participate in an international initiative to develop a training programme on "Biosecurity Measures During Major Public Events".

The meeting of the expert team took place at INTERPOL headquarters in Lyon (France) on 20-22 October 2025. During the event the work on the programme concept and training materials was initiated.

The goal of the project is to develop a comprehensive training programme to support security services, public administration and mass event organisers in preventing, recognising and responding to potential biological threats. Completion of the programme, preparation of teaching materials and the first training sessions are planned for 2026.

Prof. Michał Bijak’s participation in this prestigious undertaking is a recognition of his many years of research and experience in the field of biosecurity. It also confirms the growing role of the University of Lodz in international efforts to protect public health and biosecurity.
