We Listen. We Analyse. We Take Action

At the University of Lodz, we believe that a good workplace is built through dialogue, mutual trust and a willingness to act.

That is why we ask our employees about their experiences and needs, and use the results of the employee satisfaction survey to plan activities related to working conditions, wellbeing and the university’s organisational culture.

Why We Conduct the Employee Satisfaction Survey

We do not want to base our decisions on assumptions. We want to know what the people employed at our university genuinely need.

The survey enables us to better understand employees’ experiences, identify the strengths of our working environment and recognise areas requiring further development. Its results provide the foundation for planning activities that influence the quality of work, wellbeing and organisational culture at UniLodz.

Conducting the survey on a regular basis will also allow us to monitor the effects of implemented changes and assess whether they respond to the actual needs of our community.

The survey forms part of activities carried out within the framework of HR Excellence in Research and the University of Lodz Gender Equality Plan (GEP). It supports the creation of an open, safe and inclusive working environment.

The Employee Satisfaction Survey is one of the tools that helps us develop the University of Lodz as a people-friendly workplace that supports professional growth and promotes a healthy work-life balance.

It is a process that does not end with completing a survey. It is the beginning of change.

    What We Ask About

We ask about the areas that influence the day-to-day work and functioning of our community.

    Among other things, we examine:

    • job satisfaction,
    • teamwork and cooperation,
    • relationships with supervisors,
    • work organisation,
    • internal communication,
    • development opportunities,
    • working conditions,
    • available tools and resources,
    • work-life balance,
    • organisational culture and sense of safety.

We are interested not only in numerical ratings but also in opinions and suggestions that help us better understand employees’ experiences.

The First Edition of the Survey

We asked employees of the University of Lodz about their work experiences and job satisfaction for the first time in 2024. Thirty-six per cent of the University’s employee community participated in the survey, evaluating ten areas of the university’s operation.

The results demonstrated that this form of dialogue is needed. As many as 90% of respondents indicated that the survey should be conducted regularly. For this reason, we plan to carry it out every two years in order to monitor changes, assess the effects of undertaken initiatives, and better respond to the needs of employees.

From Feedback to Action: How We Respond to the Needs Identified in the Survey

The results of the first edition of the survey helped us identify key needs among employees and define directions for further action. Below, we present the solutions we have been implementing or developing in response to those needs.

    Equal Treatment and Safety
We are expanding initiatives aimed at preventing discrimination and bullying through training sessions, information campaigns and psychological support.

We are also introducing new organisational solutions, including procedures, academic mediation services and the Ombudsman for Academic Rights.

    Organisational Culture and Communication
We offer training on organisational culture as well as preventing discrimination and bullying.

We are preparing the “Recommendations on Principles of Workplace Communication Culture at UniLodz” – a practical guide supporting effective communication and cooperation.

    Development and Skills Enhancement
We continue to expand our training offer in response to the needs of University of Lodz employees, including scientific, administrative, teaching, digital, managerial, language and communication competences.

There are various training activities: The Active, Pathways, UniLodz – a Discrimination-Free Zone and Future Impulse, supporting professional development of the UniLodz community.

    Wellbeing and Workplace Comfort
We are developing spaces that support rest and relaxation. Relaxation zones have been created at the Faculty of Management, Educational Sciences, the Support and Accessibility Centre and in the shared space of the Rector's Office building.

Our employees can benefit from the medical package, access to psychological consultations and regular wellbeing workshops organised by the UniLodz Support and Accessibility Centre.

    Flexible Work Organisation
We are developing solutions that support a more flexible organisation of work and help employees better balance their professional and personal responsibilities.

We have established the Work-Life Balance Team, which is developing solutions that respond to the needs of employees.

    Better Tools
We have redesigned the University of Lodz website to make it easier for users to navigate and find information more quickly. Among other improvements, we have introduced a new main menu that organises content and streamlines navigation.

We are also developing the Employee Portal, making information in the UL Employee Knowledge Base easier to access and enabling more matters and applications to be handled online.

The Next Edition of the Survey: Autumn 2026

We will once again invite employees of the University of Lodz to participate in the employee satisfaction survey in autumn 2026.

The next edition will allow us to assess how the experiences and needs of our community are changing and how the actions undertaken by the university are being evaluated.

Every opinion matters. It helps us make decisions based on employees’ experiences and work together to further improve our working environment.
