UniLodz – a Discrimination-Free Zone

Overall Project Goal

Supporting active social inclusion by promoting equal opportunities, counteracting discrimination and active participation by raising knowledge and awareness of non-discrimination and diversity management, as well as supporting people experiencing unequal treatment.

Detailed project objectives

  • Increasing the awareness and knowledge of employees of the University of Lodz about anti-discrimination regulations and policies – with particular emphasis on internal university procedures, such as the anti-discrimination and anti-mobbing procedure.
  • Building a sense of security and trust in the University of Lodz community – both within teams and towards the institution – through education and support in areas related to anti-mobbing and anti-discrimination activities at the university.
  • Supporting employees of the University of Lodz who experience discrimination/mobbing – by implementing a comprehensive assistance system, including mediation, organisational and psychological support. The aim is to provide real help to people affected by these problems and to create safe conditions for reporting and resolving them.

Target group

Employees of the University of Lodz: teaching staff, research and teaching staff, research staff and administration staff.

UniLodz for equality

TRAINING, CAMPAIGN, SUPPORT

 

UniLodz is a diverse, open and tolerant community where there is no place for discrimination. We strive to create a fair and safe academic environment – a key step is to raise awareness of people employed at the University of Lodz about reprehensible behaviours and mechanisms to counteract them, as well as to create a support system for people who experience them.

Workshops and training on non-discrimination and diversity management

The task includes the organisation of a series of training courses in five key thematic areas that respond to the current needs of the University of Lodz community. Training topics include multiculturalism and intersectionality, communication based on cooperation and trust, dealing with conflict situations, responding to violence and discrimination, and building a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in the academic environment.

 

TRAINING AND WORKSHOP OFFER

Training to raise awareness of anti-discrimination regulations and policies

The aim of the training is to increase the awareness of the University of Lodz employees about the applicable regulations, policies and procedures related to counteracting discrimination and mobbing. The training participants will learn about the types of undesirable behaviours, how to recognize them and the obligations of the employer and employees in creating a safe, equal work environment. The training will also include practical tips on reporting violations and responding to situations that are inconsistent with equal treatment standards.

Social campaign for equal treatment "UniLodz unified"

A two-track educational and information campaign promoting equal treatment and counteracting discrimination and mobbing. Activities including education on undesirable behaviours and reporting procedures are addressed to the entire University of Lodz community and external stakeholders. The campaign uses social media, posters, infographics, university applications and visual identification elements.

Specialised counselling for people directly experiencing discrimination

Individual organisational, mediation and psychological support for people who have experienced discrimination, mobbing or violence. As part of the organisational and mediation support, the coordinator from the University of Lodz Support and Accessibility Centre will help you understand the situation, guide you through the procedures and, if necessary, conduct mediation. Psychological support includes individual meetings that help understand the emotions accompanying the experience of discrimination, strengthen mental resilience and learn effective ways of coping with stress and difficult situations.
