Job description
associate professor
My duties as an associate professor include:
- performing scientific research;
- teaching activities in the following study programmes:
- City management (bachelor study programme offered in Polish);
- Management in public administration (master study programme offered in Polish);
- Business Management (bachelor and master study programmes offered in English);
- Management and Finance (bachelor study programmes offered in English);
- Digital Communication and Social Media for Management (bachelor study programmes offered in English)
- Spatial Management (bachelor-engineer study programme offered in Polish);
- offering consultations to students;
- preparing teaching materials for classes;
- boosting my professional qualifications in the field of research and teaching;
- supervising students preparing diploma theses;
- reviewing diploma theses.
Functions
Vice Dean for International Relations
As the Vice-Dean for International Relations at the Faculty of Management, University of Lodz I supervise:
- student and staff mobility;
- the Faculty of Management's offer of teaching in English (including full-time programmes as well as the courses offered to mobility students);
- relations with partner universities;
- contact with graduates from abroad;
- international accreditations.
Head of Department of City and Regional Management
As the Head of the Department of City and Regional Management, I am responsible for overseeing teaching and research activities related to urban and regional development. My responsibilities include coordinating research initiatives and publication plans, fostering collaboration with external stakeholders, and ensuring high-quality of teaching in related fields.
Bio
- since October 2020: Head of the Department of City and Regional Management
- since September 2020: Vice-Dean for International Relations at the Faculty of Management, University of Lodz
- since 2012: coordinator of the BA in Business Management study programme
- 2016-2020: Vice-Dean for Student Affairs and Internationalising Study Programmes at the Faculty of Management, University of Lodz
- 2011-2020: Secretary of the European Regional Science Association
- 2018: obtained a postdoctoral degree in the field of economic sciences in the discipline of management sciences
- 2006: obtained a doctoral degree in economic sciences in the field of management sciences
- since 2003: employed at the Faculty of Management, University of Lodz
- 1996-1998: scholarship by the Stefan Batory Foundation and the British HMC (Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference) - stay at the Forest School in London

Research interests:
- City and regional management
- Financial management in local governments
- Financial autonomy of local governments
- Institutional capacity of local government units

- Team Award (III degree) of the Rector of the University of Lodz for the book “Loan and Guarantee Funds. Development - Performance - Staility” (2020)
- Bronze Medal for Long Service (2019)
- Award (I degree) of the Rector of the University of Lodz for organisational achievements (2018)
- Team Award (I degree) of the Rector of the University of Lodz for the book “ Zarządzanie w polskich miastach zgodnie z koncepcją smart city” (2016)
- Scientific Award of the University of Lodz Foundation for special scientific achievements in the years 2012-2013 in the area of social sciences in the group of young scientists of the University of Lodz (2014)
- Award (I degree) of the Rector of the University of Lodz for teaching and organisational achievements (2007)
