BEFORE DEPARTURE

After receiving an e-mail with positive decision on mobility abroad under the Erasmus+ programme, the student/graduate is obliged to sign an agreement for mobility at BWZ (IRO UL).

In order to sign the agreement, the student/graduate sends the following documents by e-mail for verification (before making a personal visit to the BWZ/IRO):

Proof of medical insurance policy valid for the period of trip and stay at the host institution, as well as the travel back to the home institution’s country – a copy of European Health Insurance Card or other medical insurance policy valid for the whole period of student mobility abroad in the host country and the days of travel to and from the mobility.

If you have any problems getting an EHIC card, we can provide you with a certificate to the National Health Service (file below) to obtain the card. Please send the document to a staff member at IRO UL with your name, surname, country and name of the host university, as well as the planned dates of travel to and from the foreign university, taking into account the start and end dates of mobility abroad.

You will make an EHIC card in person at any branch or delegation of the NFZ, more information: https://www.nfz.gov.pl/dla-pacjenta/medical-treatment-abroad/

  • A (photocopied) proof of insurance against medical costs (KL) for the duration of the traineeship and travel from/to the place/country where it takes place (covering the costs of any additional medical interventions or transport to the country).

  • A (photocopied) proof of personal accident insurance (NNW) and civil liability insurance (OC) both for the duration of the traineeship and for the time of travel to the location of traineeship and return to the home university country.

If the host institution states in LAT that it will provide the insurance coverage described above, the student/graduate does not have to submit any other proof of the accident and liability coverage for traineeship location. It is worth asking the host institution to show a document certifying coverage of trainee(s) by third party liability and accident insurance valid at your traineeship location. Alternatively, you may ask for a confirmation e-mail that you will be entitled to such insurance as a trainee in your host institution.

Students who will use sustainable (low emission) means of transport while traveling to/from the city of the host university may apply to the BWZ UŁ (IRO) for green travel for travel costs.

The applicant may receive a single contribution in the amount of EUR 50 (paid with the first installment of the scholarship).

Erasmus+ recognized low carbon means of communication are:

  • bus,

  • train,

  • carpooling - a joint trip of at least 2 students on the same route, for the same purpose, in the car of one of the co-passengers.

Low-emission travel must be round-trip (at least 51% of round-trip trips) - example: A student traveling from Łódź to Florence, where the distance is 1078 km, must use low-emission transport for at least 550 km.

A student who receives a single contribution of EUR 50 is entitled to individual support for ecological travel days up to max. 4 additional days (paid after completing the mobility in the IRO UL). To benefit from this grant, the trip must take place “beyond” the dates specified in the confirmation of stay as the study period. The subsistence allowance awarded for travel up to 4 additional days will be calculated as follows:

  • distance from 100 to 800 km one way - lump sum for 1 day of one-way travel;

  • distance from 801 to 3999 km one way - lump sum for 2 days of one-way travel.
