Science Inspires – naukowcy UŁ z zagranicy po raz pierwszy razem

The first event of the Science Inspires series, initiated by the International Hub, is already behind us! An international group of researchers that have joined academic staff of the University met in the Training and Conference Centre of the University of Lodz at ul. Rogowska. In the academic year 2021/2022, only as part of the IDUB competition, more than 40 new researchers from all over the world started working at the University of Lodz. This is the largest “scientific transfer” in the history of the University.

The goal of the meeting was to integrate scientific community and to present to our international guests the research potential of the UL. The participants were also informed about the possibilities of further development of their scientific career in Poland and applying for research grants.

The guests were welcomed by prof. Elżbieta Żądzińska, Rector of the University of Lodz and prof. Łukasz Bogucki, the UL Vice-Rector for International Relations and they were invited to joint activities in the field of science. The meeting was also attended by the representatives of units that support internationalisation of the University, i.e., UL International Relations Office, Research Centre, Promotion Centre and Employee Affairs Department.

Science Inspires meetings are to integrate various groups of employees of the University and to build an efficient, creative international research community. The initiative includes a series of meetings in the academic year 2021/2022 that will be attended by: researchers employed as part of IDUB competition, young scientists, experienced scientists, doctoral students

 – explains prof. Łukasz Bogucki, the UL Vice-Rector for International Relations.

The integration meeting was the first in a series of Science Inspires, which will be a platform for exchanging scientific experiences between Polish researchers and doctoral students from the University of Lodz and international UL scientists. The events will allow for building the culture of internationalisation of the University and they will promote Polish culture.

During the meeting in the Conference and Training Centre the researchers were welcomed in accordance with the rules of Polish hospitality and they were familiarised with the components of  Polish folklore. They also had a chance to try Polish cuisine specialities and informal chats by the campfire. The meeting was added splendor to by the performance of the folk dance and vocal group "Ariadna".

This academic year at the university of Lodz will be another breakthrough in terms of internationalisation – thanks to the IDUB grants, over 40 scientists from all over the world will come to the University at the same time. The vast majority of them will spend several years here working together with Lodz University researchers.

University of Lodz wants to make the most of the possibilities offered by participation in the Initiative of Excellence - Research University competition. The arrival of such a large group of researchers from all over the world to our University is one of the important steps in scientific development, which the University has consistently focused on for many years.

More about the new scientists who came to the UL under the IDUB competition can be found HERE.

Details on dates and topics of scientific meetings will be communicated by the UL International Hub.
