Sukces UŁ w Mistrzostwach Pracowników Szkół Wyższych w Piłce Siatkowej

On 18-21 May, the representation of the University of Lodz employees took part in the 8th Polish Higher Education Employees Volleyball Championships, which took place at the Academic Sport Center of the Gdańsk University of Technology. In the "+50" category, our university took 1st place, thus defended the championship title won in Lodz in 2020. In the second "open" category, we took 6th place. Congratulations!

In the "50+" category, the University of Lodz representation turned out to be unrivalled, outclassing most of its rivals and losing only one set.

In the group stage, University of Lodz competed with the AGH University of Krakow (AGH University), Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and the Rzeszow University of Technology. In the first two matches, University of Lodz decisively defeated UAM and AGH in the ratio 2:0, while in the last one it won (2:1) with the Rzeszow University of Technology, advancing to the next round from the first place.

In the semi-final competition, our team competed with the Koszalin University of Technology, which we defeated (2:0), and in the final we again faced the Rzeszow University of Technology. In the second match, the university from the Subcarpathia Province lost to our "50+" team (2:0), not exceeding the threshold of 20 points in both sets. Dr hab. Jolanta Kowalska was chosen the MVP of the competition.

In the group phase of the "open" category, the team of the University of Lodz played against the Lodz University of Technology and the Koszalin University of Technology. The derby of Lodz, after a fierce battle, ended with the victory of the Lodz University of Technology (0:2), while the meeting with the other rival ended with a triumph of the University of Lodz (2:0).

Thus, the University of Lodz qualified for the quarter-final, in which it had to face the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Finally, the University of Lodz finished the competition in 6th place.
