Sukcesy UŁ: naukowcy z finansowaniem NCN i FNP

The National Science Centre (NCN) has published ranking lists of projects recommended for funding (OPUS 24, SONATA 18, MINIATURA 7, POLONEZ BIS 3, PRELUDIUM BIS 4). The winners will receive more than PLN 550 million for the implementation of projects in the field of basic research in Polish units as well as for preliminary/pilot studies, library and archive searches, fellowships, research visits and/or consultations. Among the winners there are scientists from the University of Lodz, with the total amount of funding: more than PLN 10 million. The competition for the START scholarships of the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) was also decided – there are two scientists from the University of Lodz among the winners. Congratulations!

OPUS 24 – call for research projects

OPUS is the most popular call in the call portfolio of the National Science Centre. It is targeted at a wide audience, placing no restrictions as to the career level, degree / title or research experience of the principal investigator.

  • Dr inż. Paulina Bartos (Faculty of Chemistry): Spin injection to large polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons- construction of stable ring-fused [1,2,4]triazinyl radicals (1 160 800,00)
  • Dr Karolina Kwaczyński (Faculty of Chemistry): 3D fabricated dual sensing platforms (3D-Dual-Sens) (1 573 800,00)

MINIATURA 7 – preliminary/pilot studies, library and archive searches, fellowships, research visits and/ or consultations

The purpose of the MINIATURA call is to support research activities promoting the development of a concept for projects submitted to NCN calls or other national or international calls.

The University of Lodz projects with MINIATURA 7 funding:

  • Dr Sebastian Sakowski (Centre for Data Analysis, Modelling and Computational Sciences): Badania podstawowe nad nową koncepcją zastosowania obliczeń DNA – a research visit (49 900)
  • Dr Sylwia Michlewska (Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection): Polifenolowe dendrymery nowej generacji, jako nośniki paklitakselu w terapii lekoopornego drobnocząsteczkowego raka płuc – preliminary/pilot studies (48 752)

POLONEZ BIS 3 is a call for scientists who will come to Poland for 24 months to conduct basic research. The programme guarantees the winners full-time employment and funds to implement their own research projects in any scientific discipline.

The University of Lodz projects with POLONEZ Bis 3 funding:

Dr Annalakshmi Muthaiah, working under the scientific supervision of Dr hab. Łukasz Półtorak, Associate Professor (Faculty of Chemistry): Soft sensing interfaces for monitoring plant nutrients and harmful algal blooms in aquatic eco-systems (1,082,359.00).

PRELUDIUM BIS 4 provides suport for the education of doctoral students and financing research projects carried out by them as part of their doctoral dissertations. The research team consists of only two people – the supervisor, who is the project manager, and a doctoral student.

The University of Lodz projects with PRELUDIUM BIS 4 funding:

Dr hab. Łukasz Półtorak, Associate Professor (Faculty of Chemistry): Wireless deposition of materials at the electrified 3D liquid-liquid interfaces (543 022,00).

START 2023 – support for the best young scientists representing all fields of science.

The FNP START programme is the oldest stipend programme in Poland for the best young scientists representing all fields of science. Its aim is to support outstanding young scientists and encourage them to further their scientific development.
