The team members will, among other things, support the Minister of Science in identifying activities and initiatives aimed at increasing public interest in science and strengthening the role of science in shaping public debate. They will prepare recommendations regarding directions for science popularisation and the promotion of scientific and technological achievements. The team will identify best practices in science communication, the popularisation of research and development results, and propose solutions that foster open and inclusive science communication. The team's work will continue until the end of December next year.
Not only does the University of Lodz follow global trends in knowledge popularisation but also contributes to them. We proudly position ourselves as a leader in popularisation activities – a place where science is not confined within the walls of academia but lives in dialogue with society. At the University of Lodz, we understand that knowledge only acquires its full meaning when shared. That's why our researchers, students and popularisers engage in hundreds of activities. Together, we are building a space where everyone can experience science personally, directly and live.
The popularisation of science is also a priority for the current authorities of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. One of the actions to strengthen this area is the long-announced increase in the weighting of Criterion III in the evaluation. This criterion encompasses the impact of scientific activity on the functioning of society and the economy.
