Quality of education at the University of Lodz is embedded in the day-to-day operation of the entire institution. We understand it not only as the quality of study curricula, but above all as a commitment to the standard and delivery of teaching, the effectiveness of the educational process and the overall experience of students. For this reason, we develop quality systematically, across multiple levels and with the involvement of the entire academic community.

Together We Care for the Quality of Education

At UniLodz, the commitment to educational quality is multifaceted.

The University Council for Quality of Education operates at the university-wide level, as the central body responsible for supporting and enhancing educational quality. Its members include representatives of all faculties, the University of Lodz Rector's Representative for ECTS Accumulation and Transfer and a representative of the University Students’ Government Council.

The University Council for Quality of Education is responsible for reviewing study curricula, recommending solutions to the Senate of the University of Lodz, and developing university-wide tools and guidelines that support the quality of the educational process, such as student survey templates and guidelines for remote teaching.

Each faculty has its own Faculty Evaluation Committee, which monitors the compliance of faculty-level solutions with the university's quality assurance framework, reviews study curricula  and supports the development of procedures aimed at enhancing educational quality.

Thanks to the cooperation between faculties and central bodies, we continue to develop a coherent system that enables the continuous improvement of educational standards.

Information on Faculty Evaluation Committees is available on the websites of individual faculties (in Polish):

    • Faculty Evaluation Committee of the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection
    • Faculty Evaluation Committee of the Faculty of Chemistry
    • Faculty Evaluation Committee of the Faculty of Economics and Sociology
    • Faculty Evaluation Committee of the Faculty of Philology
    • Faculty Evaluation Committee of the Faculty of Physics and Applied Informatics
    • Faculty Evaluation Committee of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science
    • Faculty Evaluation Committee of the Faculty of Geographical Sciences
    • Faculty Evaluation Committee of the Faculty of Law and Administration
    • Faculty Evaluation Committee of the Faculty of International and Political Studies
    • Faculty Evaluation Committee of the Faculty of Management

    We Support Teaching Staff

The people who teach: their expertise, commitment, and willingness to develop their skills, are at the heart of educational quality.

If you are a member of the academic staff of the University of Lodz and would like to learn more about the support the university offers in the delivery of teaching, visit the Employee Portal. In the UniLodz Employee Knowledge Base, you will find procedures concerning the creation of study curricula and study programmes, the introduction of curriculum modifications, as well as the launching and discontinuation of studies.

You will also find there information on, among other things, syllabuses, student internships, the evaluation of academic staff, teacher-training study programmes and ECTS credits.

We Involve Students in Quality Enhancement

The active participation of students is an important component of the quality assurance system. They take part in the work of board bodies, contribute to the development of new study curricula and provide opinions on modifications to existing ones.

Students engage in the activities of various bodies at both faculty and university levels, including Faculty Councils and Faculty Students’ Government Councils, as well as the University Students’ Government Council, the University Council for Quality of Education, and the Senate of the University of Lodz. As a result, they have a genuine influence on the development of the educational offer and the enhancement of educational quality.

Regular student surveys also constitute an important quality enhancement tool. Feedback from students helps identify needs, evaluate the effectiveness of classes and implement tangible improvements.

We Design Study Programmes Through a Thoughtful Process

Every new study curriculum, as well as every significant modification to an existing curriculum, undergoes a multi-stage review and evaluation process.

The process begins at the faculty level, where a curriculum proposal is prepared. It is then consulted with the Faculty Evaluation Committee and the Faculty Students’ Government Council. Once positive opinions have been obtained, the proposal is approved by the Faculty Council and submitted for further consideration at the university level.

The next stage involves evaluation by the University Council for Quality of Education, which recommends the curriculum for consideration by the Senate of the University of Lodz. The final decision on the adoption of a new or amended curriculum is made by the Senate, while the establishment of a new study programme takes place by virtue of a Rector’s Regulation.

This carefully designed process enables thorough substantive and formal verification of study curricula while taking into account the needs of students and changing social and economic realities. Through the involvement of experts, quality assurance bodies, student representatives, and partners from the wider socio-economic environment, we can ensure that our study curricula meet high academic standards, respond to labour market needs and address the expectations of external stakeholders.

    We Improve Quality in Practice

The quality assurance system also includes regular teaching observations, which encourage reflection on teaching practices and help identify areas requiring further development.

At the University of Lodz, quality of education is a process of continuous improvement, based on cooperation, analysis and a commitment to development. In this way, we create an educational environment that responds to the needs of the contemporary academic community.
